The Steering Committee of the 13th edition of TICEC, Ecuador’s flagship conference on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), invites PhD students to participate in the Doctoral Consortium (DC) — a space designed to provide specialized feedback and promote interaction with experienced researchers. This event is aimed at doctoral candidates at various stages of their research who are seeking constructive guidance on their dissertation projects.

Objectives of the Doctoral Consortium

The Doctoral Consortium at TICEC 2025 aims to:

  • Provide a forum for PhD students to present their ongoing research and receive feedback from experts and peers.
  • Encourage interaction and networking between doctoral students and established researchers in the ICT field.
  • Support the improvement of research quality and direction through constructive suggestions.
  • Foster a supportive academic and professional environment where students can strengthen their research projects.

    REVIEW PROCESS

    All submissions will undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process, where each paper will be evaluated for originality, research depth, accuracy, relevance to the conference themes, and clarity.

    Please make sure to fully understand the submission guidelines by carefully reading the call for papers before submitting your work.

    • Format Requirement: Submissions are accepted in PDF format only.
    • Anonymity for Review: Exclude author names, universities, countries, or any identifying details to adhere to the double-blind review process. Provide these details exclusively through EasyChair.
    • Language and Length: Articles must be in English, spanning 12 to 15 pages.
    • No Post-Submission Edits: Article changes are not permitted once submitted for review.
    • Originality and Relevance: Ensure the original content aligns with one or more conference themes.
    • Accuracy in Details: Verify the precision of citations, diagrams, maps, and tables.
    • Figure and Table Placement: Integrate figures and tables within the text at their intended locations, ensuring they are clear and high-resolution.
    • Template Compliance: Format papers according to the provided template in the templates section.

    Ensure submissions are anonymized by excluding author(s) names and affiliations from the paper’s header for the double-blind review process. Each paper will be evaluated by at least three regular members of the Program Committee or two senior members of the Steering Committee. Papers will be judged on:

    • Originality: The paper should present new ideas, projects, or issues, offer new insights into existing research, introduce new research, or propose new approaches to existing information.
    • Engagement: The presentation should engage the audience and have a strong potential to attract conference attendees by meeting the community’s needs.
    • Significance: Discuss key issues that enhance the effectiveness and/or sustainability of open education with widely disseminated and understandable content.
    • Quality: Assertions are backed by adequate data, reference relevant literature, and disclose limitations.
    • Clarity: The paper’s goals and intended outcomes are straightforward.
    • Relevance: Directly addresses one or more of the conference’s themes.

    • Plagiarism Check: All submissions to TICEC 2025 will undergo checks for plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. Papers found to contain plagiarism will be automatically rejected.
    • Authorship: Post-acceptance, no additional authors can be added beyond those listed in the EasyChair submission form.
    • Revisions: Accepted papers must be revised according to the reviewers’ feedback and recommendations.
    • Registration Policy: Each registration allows for one author’s attendance.
    • Publication Rule: Only one paper may be presented and published per registration.
    • Cancellation Policy: Registrations are final – no cancellations or refunds.
    • Transfer Policy: Registrations are strictly non-transferable.
    • Presentation Requirement: Publication of an article is contingent upon its presentation at the conference.

    At the Doctoral Consortium of TICEC 2025, attendees will witness the presentation of three prestigious awards recognizing outstanding contributions in the following categories:

    • Best Doctoral Consortium Paper Award: Given to the most outstanding paper in its session.
    • Best Doctoral Consortium Presentation Awards: Recognizing excellence in two categories:
      • Best Female Presenter
      • Best Male Presenter
